Good idea, problems executing
I've tried to use the app as often as possible. It's a great strategy to save money and reduce waste. But, way too often, stores make mistakes. For some strange reason, the store has no responsibility to rectify the situation, and the user is forced to take it up with the support desk, which is getting slower and slower in problem resolution. Why should it take 7-10 business days (2 weeks) to process a simple refund? Especially, why is the user punished financially for a store's error?

The $5 bag of vegetables and fruits is really empty, it's not worth paying for them at the Maxi in Rimouski, Qc

I'm not giving you precise location info you don't need my precise info! Approximate location is more than adequate but this app gets upset and demands more info saying "it can't find you"

Avoid
I bought chicken that was supposedly still good for the day. I just took a bit to taste it but was not sure so threw it out. It made me very sick I will never order on these apps again they sell you their garbage and could care less if you die.

Basic app needs a couple more features
Dropping my rating (once again) to 1 star. This is because they still haven't added the 2 basic features i requested below and now they are charging a fee per purchase. The app constantly crashes with communication errors. Those errors aren't new but now more frustrating because i am paying for those errors. If you are charging to use the app now, you need to improve the app or it will fail. Previous review: Im dropping my rating to 2 stars because it has been around for some time now and they refuse to add two basic features that seem like common sense. 1. Let me set my default store instead of defaulting to the nearest store. 2. Tell me when new items are added at my default store so I don't have to keep looking all day. Basic push notifications are a standard of any app. Seems like they just dont care.

SNAP customers should've been exempted from the new 5% service charge. Service was good while it lasted.

Settings could be better
The app works ok, and would have received a higher rating if it allowed me to save a favourite store. We only have one store in our city connected with this program, but because I won't allow it complete access to my location, I have to access & adjust a map each time to find my store. I'm assuming this is intentional to try & force me to allow location. Which I won't do. Without the above problem, I would have rated them 4 stars. Other than that the app works well.

Used to good
This app used to great! I was able to get meat, sizable produce boxes, and other interesting goodies on here. Now the stores near me (Meijers) never have any meat-I check almost daily, the produce boxes are hardly worth $5, and there's not much new added daily or even weekly. I'm disappointed that this app used to great but now isn't worth it.

Not worth the effort
Last year flash floods was literally a life saver for me a single mom. With multiple store offerings almost every in their fridge. Meat, dairy, bread and fruit/veggies. For the last 4 months or so it's drastically reduced variety of items to only sweet pastries and old fruit bags. So so so sad and disappointed in this app.

It seems too good to be true, what’s the catch?
There’s no catch! Grocers are working hard to reduce waste. By partnering with Flashfood, they’re able to sell food nearing its best by date faster and more reliably because of our passionate Flashfoodies. For the grocer, that means reducing waste. For our shoppers, that means a steady stream of deals. A real win-win! To date, our 2 million plus users have helped get over 20 million pounds of delicious food to dinner tables—instead of landfills.

The biggest reason of all
Just in case the sheer joy of a great meal at a killer price isn’t enough—shopping with Flashfood means you’re directly helping to reduce food waste in your community.

30-40% of food in the US gets wasted and it’s the biggest category of material placed in municipal landfills in America. When good food gets sent to a landfill, it decomposes and emits methane gas—a greenhouse gas even more brutal than carbon dioxide. That’s why we’re here. Who knew service to the planet could also be delicious?
