It really bugs me that I have to sit through a like 15 pop ups before I can even play the game. And they're not ads. They're just pop ups from the app. The game is so full of animations that the pop ups take forever. That alone makes me not even want to play. The game is supposed to be super relaxing. It's actually the opposite.

Too Many Popups
I've been playing TwoDots for over a decade and I'm sad to say I haven't been enjoying it as much lately. It's like you can't do anything in the main menu without a million popups interrupting you. I wasn't happy when they started forcing ads, but I understand the developers need to eat. I think all the “buy coins!” “join the challenge!” boxes that fill the screen on app startup is discouraging people to play. I know it's turned me off to the game. If you've got an older phone, it just makes a laggy mess that takes a while to get out of long enough to actually start playing the game. All that said, this is still my very favorite puzzle game, and has been for years. It's not too flashy or loud, and there are enough game options to keep you busy even if you're stuck on a hard level. I play this game while listening to lectures or audiobooks, and it's always been great.

Gold?
The game is fine so far, and even though I haven't been on the higher levels like all the other reviewers, I still need to use booster boxes to earn First Try Gold or you just don't get a square at all. And recently, I've just been swindled out of my gold! The game keeps me at 1 gold so I can't buy anything despite actively earning some in levels but it just says “the gold mine is full” and I have to spend money to unlock it. Just tell people to pay to download the app if we're going to do all that.

The ads have gotten out of control. Not only the frequency has increased, but the length of the ads are painful. There are plenty of mindless games out there, guess I will have to go look for replacement soon.
