Won't connect phone calls. Press 1 to connect and nothing happens

I'm not sure if it was just my therapist or the app itself but I tried scheduling an appointment but my therapist cancelled last second without a good reason, but I don't like to make assumptions so I just rescheduled for a different time and they didn't even show up for this one, I tried messaging them multiple times with no response, I even sat in the video call for the whole session to see if they would join but never did, I paid for an entire month of therapy without actually getting any.

I think maybe I just have bad luck. I joined a little over a year ago and I was very upset. I was going through a lot at the time, and finally decided to reach out for help. I paid $250 for a session and that was with insurance. If I go physically to see someone it's usually about 40 bucks. Maybe this is just how counseling works but I felt like nobody was helping I was just talking the whole time and the therapist was literally moving while she was on the phone with me. I received no help.

Amazing service
This is an amazing app; you get access to a weekly therapy session and can choose to speak through text, voice call or video call. Then you additionally have one group session each week with a specific topic to talk about; the therapist will ask if anyone wants to share their own experience regarding that topic and others will give advice and relate to their own personal stories. You then have access to as many classes as you want; you cannot speak, but there is a text group chat to ask questions. These classes educate you on Psychology and how to resolve specific issues. The only issue I have with the app is the pairing process. I asked to be paired with someone trained in DBT for BPD and I got a therapist who hadn't studied those; the only thing we had in common was we were both gay, atheist white women, so I suspect they match you based on social group, rather than what therapy you need. This needs to be fixed. However, I will point out that after being paired, you can press, ‘request a new therapist' and you are then able to look through a list of 30'000 therapists' degrees and expertise and pick one that you would like.

Felt like I wasted money
When I joined, I was incredibly motivated to seek help, but after many frustrations - I decided not to continue. My therapist was nice, but they were not equipped to assist me. They also had very limited availability, so I found myself having to wait over a week for an appointment. Our first video appointment was interrupted many times due to connectivity issues on their end. I then tried a phone call appointment, which ended with the same issues - couldn't connect. Finally, I tried to text for an appointment, but that's not at all something I wanted in therapy. I prefer to see the person, hear their voice, and actually connect. After all was said and done, I was worse off than when I started and 265$ poorer.

Therapist over 20 mins late
I had two sessions with my first therapist, and she was over 20 minutes late to both appointments. I'm matching with a new therapist but so far I'm not impressed with this app. i'm gonna get the second therapist a chance, but if it doesn't work out, I'm definitely asking for a refund. So far this app is not worth $300 a month.

Service will continue to charge you after you have canceled. They also make the cancellation process very tedious and unclear.

Sells your healthcare information. Should lose way more than what they did. Absolute. Corruption worse than tik tok. Don't use this service.

PROFESSIONAL HELP, PERSONALIZED FOR YOU
Facing obstacles alone can be daunting – receiving support and guidance from a professional therapist has been shown to make huge, positive changes to help you overcome personal challenges. When you sign up we’ll match you to an available therapist based on your needs, preferences, and location. Different therapists have different approaches and areas of expertise so we’ll work with you to find the right person who can achieve the best results for you.

LICENSED AND TRAINED THERAPISTS
There are over 30,000 therapists on BetterHelp, each with at least 3 years and 1,000 hours of hands-on experience. They are licensed, trained, experienced, and accredited psychologists (Ph.D./PsyD), marriage and family therapists (MFT), clinical social workers (LCSW), licensed professional therapists (LPC), or similar credentials.

All of our therapists have a Master’s Degree or a Doctorate Degree in their respective fields. They have been qualified and certified by their state professional board and have completed the necessary education, exams, training, and practice.

HOW DOES IT WORK?
After filling out our questionnaire, you will be matched with a licensed therapist based on your needs, preferences, and location. You and your therapist will get your own “therapy room” where you can message your therapist at any time, from any internet-connected device, wherever you are. You can also schedule a weekly session to speak live with your therapist over video or phone.

You can write or talk about yourself, the things going on in your life, ask questions, and discuss the challenges you’re facing and your therapist will provide feedback, insights, and guidance. This ongoing one-on-one dialogue is the foundation of your work with your therapist.

Together you’ll work towards making a positive change in your life, accomplishing your goals, and overcoming your problems.

HOW MUCH DOES IT COST?
The cost of therapy through BetterHelp ranges from $60 to $90 per week (billed every 4 weeks) but may be higher based on factors like your location, preferences, and therapist availability. Unlike traditional in-office therapy which can cost over $150 for a single session, your BetterHelp membership includes unlimited text, video, audio messaging as well as weekly live sessions. The subscription is billed and renewed every 4 weeks and includes both the use of the secured site and the therapy service itself. You can cancel your membership at any time for any reason.
