Thumbtack: Hire Service Pros - Latest Quality Issues

Scam. I've had bout 7 message and paid over $100 for nothing. I even responded fast. Several customers never hired anybody and didn't cancel their project so thumbtack ont refund. Never got a job. It's been a month on the site and a few friends told me the same they tried a couple months. Nothing. And you can't chose a lower amount. Their minimum is too high for what customers want to even pay.

Thumbtack is a scam
The concept of thumbtack sounds great, but they charge exorbitant amounts just for LEADS and you cannot turn off automatic charges. I.e. if anyone messages you through thumbtack inquiring about a service you offer, you are automatically charged $40-$180. No, that's not an exaggeration. I assumed they would take a cut of booked jobs. I would even be fine if they charged $5-$15 per lead, but they auto charged me $150 for a lead who never wrote back and felt a bit fake. Seems like they're doing something criminal in my opinion.

response to troubleshoot the problem was very quick. The response to fix the problem after it was found out has been very slow.

Scaled to fast
This app is great in theory, but I can't help but think the company scaled to quickly. I installed to start a project on my roof. Initially it was a major convenience to have contractors contacting me. That's where the good time end. The first pro to respond marked the job done. So all the other contractors I was communicating with in the app saw I hired somewhere else. I didn't. Apparently the app allows their ‘pros' to determine when your job is done. There's a function in the app that allows a user like me to change the project status. I tried to do that so pros would see the job is not hired. Unfortunately that functionally is broken. When I, the project creator, try to reopen it doesn't work. I called customer support and their response was to start over. So here I am a week and a half into this project and I still don't have a contractor. Obviously thumbtack was a mistake and I'll just use the yellow pages. Thanks for putting my project off schedule thumbtack!

A terrible app, spams inbox immediately and charging credit cards with no authorization. Support is entirely non responsive.

I have been unable to hire a pro out of Thumbtack. There is no option to respond to Thumbtack that the Thumbtack pros just don't work out - some have walked out (after pics and visits), not use the app for communication and then it will show up as our lack of responses, etc. I have provided feedback to the app earnestly and still Thumbtack sends the same email following up on a project that none of its pros are helping.

Searched online for movers, sent a request in, got the email that they messaged back but I needed to download this app so I did. Turns out - no message! Bait and switch. 0 if I could.
