the safe pilot doesn't work for when I look at my report it says I've super braked stop 39 times I used my [phone] times fast stopping is being recorded and I am a goodwhen I take trips I always use Waze. I don't see how I can get higher scores as I have to use my ways because we moved. there are lots of bumps and holes in the street which, I believe all of this horrible activity is due to my Waze bouncing up and down

I have a major issue that this app FORCES you to keep your location on 24/7!!! I don't want my location on if I am not driving but the MOMENT you turn location off the app tells you it will affect your discount!!! What if your location sharing is a safety issue for some people and need to shut it off at times?!

Fix the glitch
Every couple months or so this app says it's no longer tracking data because “Motion & Fitness” isn't turned on. You follow the instructions to enable it and the option doesn't actually exist under settings. Really tired of uninstalling and reinstalling every few months to get it to work when it should simply continue working if nothing else is touched.

I appreciate that USAA offers this as a discount option, but pay-as-you-go data users beware: it's a data hog. I average almost a gig of data from SafePilot each month. While the app CAN store your driving data when you're offline, and it CAN use wifi to send that data when a network is connected, there is no option to disable mobile data use. Not an issue if you have unlimited data, but if you pay $10/GB, then this app may cost you upwards of $120/yr.

I placed my phone in a very secure spot and don't touch it and have had several phone handling penalties. There's no way to dispute it. And honestly it encourages you to run yellow lights so you don't break too harsh. This is not encourage safe driving it's to measure the probability if USAA will have to pay out on your policy.

The app stopped tracking my drives a few days ago even though all of the permissions are on.

It would be better if I could turn this on and off. I commute to work on the bus, and there's nothing wrong with using my phone when riding a bus, but this app counts it as using my phone when driving and even when I mark that I was a passenger, it still hurts my score. I drive for other errands and the app works on for that.

The USAA SafePilot App instructs, inspires and rewards safe driving habits to help keep you safe on the road while lowering your auto insurance premium.
