Good app, however, I had several times the problem that the app starts by itself, then picks up and consumes so unnoticed a lot of battery capacity, annoying. Is there anything that can be done about this?

Voice recognition already works very well. Better than I expected. You can also compare the bird songs directly by linking the results to Wikipedia. Although it is not yet perfect, especially disturbing noises from humans sometimes make it difficult to recognize the bird's voice. But I think the problem is also hard to solve. The app invites you to explore nature. :)

Excellent technology, incredibly useful in most conditions. The reporting of results is fast and user-friendly. Three flaws: (1) the Play button doesn't work (at least in Android), so selecting the right section of the recording to analyze is guesswork; (2) there seems to be no way to check the version number; and (3) there is no way to disable automatic identification of your location by GPS, or to select it manually, so as to detect birds that are not normally in your area.

Pretty good so far. I'm having a bit of trouble selecting the portion of the recording to identify, and sometimes I'll record the same bird three times and get three different identifications! My biggest problem, however, is with the stored recordings. I can't seem to be able to play them back. There's clearly a recording, with a play button, but it doesn't seem to work.

Cool, cool, great. unfortunately. My recording contains a very distinctive bird song piercing the trel of everyone else, and Birdnet classifies it as: scythe, wilga, child black? That's not it!!! There is no possibility of a repeat analysis of the recorded sound, pale results and assumptions are treated as a shot in 10 without the possibility of replay (once fired the saved recording again - I do not know how-I do not know so far) :(

Even under rain with a faint sound it got my first try right, impressive!

This does not recognize anything. I did a robin the other day. I tried 4 times and got these results. 1. highly unlikely 2. almost certain 3. likely 4. uncertain. This has happened several times. It's very discouraging and don't know what is correct. Disappointed with this app.

BirdNET - Product Description
How can computers learn to recognize birds from sounds? The BirdNET research project uses artificial intelligence and neural networks to train computers to identify nearly 3,000 of the most common species of North America and Europe. You can record a file using the internal microphone of your iOS device and see if BirdNET correctly identifies the probable bird species present in your recording. Get to know the birds around you and help us to collect observations by submitting your recordings.

BirdNET is a joint project of the Cornell Lab of Ornithology and Chemnitz University of Technology.
