Absolutely unbelievable or should we say so unprofessional
After reading reviews including my own I have found that I am not the only one that has had money placed on hold retracted from their account and nobody can tell us where that money is and now that my account is disabled I can't even get a hold of somebody without customer code so it's either embezzlement or downright theft I would strongly deterrent any small business or large business to use this company and their app. To top that off a lot of people that leave one star reviews. I think people have this depiction of them that they're not solid business folks will let me just tell you I am an electrical engineer with a masters degree and they just deactivated my account for absolutely no reason we engineers are very very by the book and I went through every piece of red tape to make sure I was licensed through my state. Had my business registered with the state had a bank account that had plenty of money in it with only business transactions and I got an email from them 13 days not like two or three like they were saying my account was deactivated please please please do not use SQUARE because I don't wanna be one of those people that says I told you so because they are awful and I mean awful to deal with.

easy to use for taking cards on the go. amd you can use all the regular square functionality as well. just hate the square reports it's so hard to get a summary of what you have sold.

Customer service is terrible! Can't call for help and need a freaking code to talk to anyone- that's Iffff you can reach anybody. I'd do a lot more apps with them If the customer support was there- it's Nill!!

UPDATE: Function has improved. Square was fine to begin with but now I have nothing but trouble with it. It continually says it is offline (and I have to do a force stop to get it to work) or that I have no internet connection when I know I do. Also, the chip reader fails to recognize cards on a regular basis & I end up having to manually enter the number. When I've asked Square about it, they say it is a Verizon problem. Verizon says it's a Square problem. Bottom line, it is a problem for me.

Reader turns off by itself each time. It sometimes does not complete the transaction & we lose money.

Withholding Money, No Access to Customer Support
After 2+yrs of business they randomly started withholding all of my money claiming I need to verify my identity. No notification, I just realized my bank account was not receiving my money. After digging through my square account, I finally realized Square was a withholding money because they wanted me to “verify” my account. After submitting the information they requested I waited another week. They then sent me a notification requesting more information, including access to my bank account to “verify” my balance and transaction history. I then submitted the information and was told I had to wait until it was reviewed and approved. I then tried calling customer support after I submitted the information. I went through several different prompt menus with no access to a representative until I repeatedly pushed zero. Once I finally spoke with a representative they just told me my account was under review. Why did you let me proceed with processing transactions for my customers only to withhold the transaction and not releasing it to my bank account? It has been several weeks since I processed these transactions, will you be paying me interest?

Disappointing updates
The Square App gets more and more cumbersome. Needs more clicks to get a payment logged. And now even location tracking for no reason on top of microphone use, Bluetooth and what not. If I don't use hardware these shouldn't be necessary. You don't need to track where I am when I log a payment that happens outside of the app. I'll start looking for an alternative.

Square will incorrectly report your information in their tax forms and customer service is completely nonexistent. I'm sure I will get some generic bot response but receive no actual help just like the past year or constant calling to correct their mistakes.
