It is ridiculous that customers can reach out to 6+ Pros for a single job (which every pro has to pay for), and ultimately only 1 person is going to be chosen for the job. I recently received a lead from someone looking for a garage cleaning due to a home inspection , which cost me $17.53 (she also contacted 5 other people who all had to pay). About 12 hours later while still messaging the lady about the first lead, I received another lead from her (she also reached out to 2 other people) looking to get 3 bedrooms cleaned and that lead cost me $54.31. In the end I wasn't hired and it cost me $71.84 for this lady to message me and 7 other people regarding a house cleaning. Our prices are clearly stated on our profiles and it's unfair that customers can message as many people as they want looking for quotes and we all have to pay for it. I will be deactivating my account after thumbtack refuses to refund any of the money I wasted. Its crazy to think of how many people waste money on leads like this. There are other apps you can use that don't look to exploit and massively profit off its users.

The price for the leads is outrageous and that's weather you book the job or not. They also suggest jobs that I don't even do, which I have told them over and over again. I will never use Thumbtack again.

If you're a “pro”, I know you feel my pain. I have been with Thumbtack for over 10 years and have only seen a consistent decline into the current greed and predatory cess pool it has now become. The fees are Absurd, roughly 20-40% for a job just to be considered. You only get “leads” if you pay in advance ($30-50) to even get a shot at landing an opportunity. Or you have to pay more to be “competitive “ against other pros who are willing to pay more for leads (crooks). If the customer says “hey what's your availability and, and then books someone else. Tough luck you just lost $50 with no refund available. No fault of the customer as they aren't made aware that pros are paying out the nose to even be considered. Many customers reach out to 3-5 pros at a time. On average a $150 job cost me $30-40 in fees to thumbtack. If you made it this far just know that thumbtack as a lead service is AWFUL. Crooks. It's convent for customers but terrible for providers. Tip extra and have a realistic budget for what you need. The under $120 category shouldn't even be an option. Most pros are LOSING MONEY just existing on the platform.

As a photographer, Thumbtack is not worth it. You pay on average $30-$50 for a lead that doesn't turn into a booking. Even if you don't have a balance, Thumbtack will still charge your card on file if someone messages you for something like a quote. The prices are outrageous and if you do happen to book something, you might be lucky enough to come out even.

Thumbtack doesn't care that these “customers” are taking our money, and when you put in a request for refund they absolutely will not refund your money even when the CUSTOMER is non-responsive, provides an invalid phone number, and when it shows you're the only pro who responded to the lead. Waste of money.

Within 6 hours, nearly $250 was deducted from my account. All of the customers coming from my account are fake bot accounts, a few of them cannot be reached. There is no such number, such an account. I will initiate legal action against you and first thing I will contact my bank. Really, this application is a complete fraud, I will say this everywhere, do not use this application. do not download

If you're a pro stay away from thumbtack pro , I spent $250 a week and never get hired , I have a solid portfolio and answer all the direct leads in second and still nerved hired , how come I paid $55 dollars just for someone to say hello and never answer , and they refuse to refunded me . Right now I have a lawyer taking care of my case I screenshot everything because this company is a scam. They created their policies to be in their favor. They will charge you a lot for job you won't get , my business was in pause and scammer decide to give me 1 star , I don't even know who that person is and never work for that person and they refuse to delete the fake reviews and they charge me so much money for no reason , I think the federal should investigate this company because they rip people , if you want your business to be successful just run ads. I already have a law firm interested in my case , I hope I'm not the first one sue them

If you are barely starting out with zero reviews it's just gonna be a waste of your money most customers aren't even ready to do the job just looking for a estimate then cancel on the job and you still pay up to 100$ per job.

This is ne of the worst companies I have ever encounter, they will steal your money for ghost leads. They will keep almost 90% of the revenue that you might generate from a Lead. It started good but after a couple of weeks, they started to charge me hundreds of dollars for each lead. This is literally at the verge of being a legit scam. Use other platforms and tools if you are just starting your own business, trust me.
