Unnecessary

The app was fine but you can't use it without creating an account. I don't need more spam emails I just want to check inventory. This is unnecessary and just dumb.

Forced update?

If the bar scanner for price checks don't work in your store, this can be helpful. Battery drains kinda fast though. Some things can be found online only or can be on clearance. They still having a forced update with a banner. It's great that Academy is updating the app, but their whole website should be redone. I just hope the store stays red and supports us. The company went woke and told everyone to get a shot just before I left in January 2022... otherwise they were going to force you to get tested weekly. I guess they didn't like me not wearing a mask. Now the app is requiring to make an account? Can't I use it with a guest or be anonymous like most websites?

Not usable

Horrible. Worked great until they now require you to form an account. Won't let you past the front page. And then try and make account and never sends verification code making it useless. If I can't shop or compare online, just as soon skip the store.

update requires mandatory account creation and sign-in

App was fine prior to forcing the creation of an account and then sign in. I get enough spam.

Atrocious Decline in Service I used to think of Academy as consistent and reliable - however given the performance of their mobile app and the NUMEROUS issues I have experienced with just ONE order being placed is unacceptable. The mobile app is extremely unreliable and the delays in their network between their site, HQ, and mobile app is atrocious and unacceptable if they wish to remain in good standings with their reputation.
