Bark - Parental Controls - Latest Quality Issues

It's more of a hassle to keep my devices in sync with Bark than it's worth. I'm required to check my child's phone to sync it or to hold them accountable for their activity. When it stays on sync it works great, but that's a rare occasion.

Bark Review
I am disappointed that this app doesn't monitor snap chat. That is the one app that I really would like to be monitored, and it's not possible with Bark. I'm also not sure this is monitoring text messages. Overall, mostly disappointed.

Noticed my child was able to get online after her bedtime settings and after looking into the app i found she can turn the vpn off which then takes away the ability for the app to do what its intended purpose is. And the kicker os they want us to pay for the ability to not control our childs phone.

Doesn’t work, get charged $99 to find out
I was excited to see this uses VPN to handle screen time and tracking, but once the child turns off VPN (which they will do immediately) everything breaks and you are stuck with an AI support bot.

This app is very poorly designed. It tanks all of your RAM and when having to submit you bark password to enter your settings the only button that you can click is the verify button and you can't even exit the settings.

Poor customer service, too complicated
I purchased the subscription and the home box. I accidentally purchased 2 home boxes. I've emailed customer service multiple times to cancel my subscription 1- I really just wanted the program to monitor YouTube- and texting, however we don't allow other app- and if there are other apps- you have to log in to each and every one and add that to bark. I didn't find that necessary- but I understand that's how it monitors the phone . 2 - I was getting “spammed “ by bark when advertising emails my daughter subscribed too had wine glasses for sale. Her previous text messages did have friends use curse words and this didn't pick it up! Save your money and just monitor your kids' phones each day. Im still not able to get information on how to return because whoever autobot responds asks the same question did you purchase through Amazon or the website. I purchased through the app/ the link/ so the website. So far all I've been told is : we have unsubscribed you from emails. Well- that doesn't help me to know who and how to return it? It also doesn't show I'm getting reimbursed for the subscription I DO NOT want. My daughter who's almost 16 even helped convince me of this- “mom at some point you have to trust me. You read all my texts and have my password to emails so you can read anything - just adding bark shows you don't have confidence in me that I'll turn to you when I have and issue.” Pretty good point.

Deleted ASAP
This took hours to setup. Found out afterward that it doesn't provide any protection for the apps that kids use the most like Snapchat and TikTok. When we did the connection with IG it would say “not found.” I invested 4 hours into setting this up and then it couldn't even do what it advertised. In response to the developer response- what is NOT covered is not clearly stated on your webpage unless you seek out the fine print. Again- include the accurate info on the app page. If you want happy customers tell them up front what you do or do not do. Don't hide it. $99/annually for doing very little is a scam.

This app is a battery runner, as it is always on. It's technically Spyware, as it's downloading your data and text messages.
Bark - Parental Controls - Product Description
Bark provides families with all the tools they need to raise kids in the digital age. Our comprehensive service lets you monitor content, manage screen time, and filter websites so you can get peace of mind while your child is online.

CONTENT MONITORING

Bark monitors your child’s texts, email, YouTube, and 30+ apps and social media platforms for issues like cyberbullying, adult content, sexual predators, profanity, suicidal ideation, threats of violence, and more. Parents receive alerts only when something potentially problematic occurs online. You won’t have full access to everything on your child’s phone — just the things you might need to know about.

SCREEN TIME MANAGEMENT

Families can set healthy time limits and create schedules for when their children’s devices can connect to the internet (through both cell service and Wi-Fi).

WEB FILTERING

Our web filter lets you select which websites your child can access on their devices. You can allow or block specific sites — or even whole categories like streaming services, online gaming, sexual content, and more.

BARK TESTIMONIALS

• "My wife and I LOVE Bark. We've had some tough but productive conversations with our 13-year-old son. It's proving to be extremely valuable." — Josh L.
• “It’s just another set of protections we as parents give our kids for the digital environment (or as my 10-year-old calls it, a “cell phone seat belt”). My oldest is a 9th grader, and while I trust her, I’ve come to realize through the alerts that some of her friends aren’t truly her friends. It’s led to some amazing conversations about choosing friends wisely and recognizing toxic people. While she wasn’t for Bark at first, she’s since said she’s grateful that I saw those messages because it reaffirmed what she was feeling but didn’t know how to verbalize without sounding sensitive.” — Bark Parent
• "Bark notified me that my young daughter had unknowingly revealed her phone number to strangers on Twitter. The fact that Bark notified me was impressive and led to an informative discussion with her the same day." — Jon B.
• “Since Bark alerted us to the suicidal language used in the Google doc that was being used in a chat document with a friend, we have seen both a pediatrician and a licensed counselor. We are hopeful for a positive outcome. Thanks to Bark for letting us peek into our child’s mind!” — Bark Parent
• “This app is a lifesaver! It has allowed us to catch so many “red flags” in the content my kids have accessed on their devices and in their interactions with friends and other people online that I wouldn’t have ever known about otherwise. The big difference between Bark and other “Parental Control” software is that Bark allows your kids to have so much more privacy. It doesn’t show you everything they do, but sends an instant alert regarding any activity that might be concerning. Highly recommended!” — Bark Parent

With Bark, you can help keep your kids safe both online and in real life. Try it out for seven days absolutely free!
