I'm troubled with how often this app expects us to open it & verify it is accurate. We do a lot of family trips & with 2 teens who also have to have the app, it counts everyone as driving when we travel together. Every trip, we have to go back & tell the app if we were driving or not. There is just too much interaction with this app. It's an app that you should ignore to focus on the road. If they want to affect the bill, they should at least improve accuracy on your reputation of your driving.

Great concept, poor execution.
Decided to give it a try. Well, 1 trip it recorded me as the passenger. Correct. Second and 3rd trip it said i was the driver. I was the passenger. My wife was driving my truck. 3rd trip was funny because my phone was in the cup holder. Guess it detected motion and thought i was the driver and using it. I didnt use it and i was the passenger. 4th trip it didnt record anything 🤷♂️. Lets face it, no matter how much technology and AI you throw at non exact data, the interpretations will be wrong every single time. USAA may want to stick to more exact data such as speed, acceleration and braking- which has more exact data algorithms.

Doesn’t work as described
It works but it can't tell if I'm driving or if someone else is driving. Then I have to go in and manually change I'm a passenger. If I'm driving and my kid takes my phone and uses it. I have to manually go in and change it to passenger. If I'm driving and my kid is in the car with me it says both of us are driving that isn't possible. She has to go in and change every single trip to passenger. If you turn off the app you get told you will lose the discount. Can there be something added so that each and every stop doesn't have to be change to passenger.

Incredibly picky in what constitutes an "infraction". Tracks any amount of travel to include walking. Very invasive for a program to help save a few dollars. Only entertaining this to try and keep my bill down. Can't wait to uninstall!

Participation in this program is currently limited to USAA members with an active auto insurance policy in select states. The USAA SafePilot App instructs, inspires and rewards safe driving habits to help keep you safe on the road while lowering your auto insurance premium. Eligible members can receive a discount of up to 10% for enrolling and participating in the program, and earn a premium discount at renewal time for being safe drivers.
