The App MCL & Customer Support Get 0 Stars
Been using NetSpend since 2016 for my husband's finances, and while direct deposit goes through wonderfully, mobile check loads have NEVER worked on his account. Calling the number provided in the app after it's vague “your request could not be completed” message gets us nothing but a run around. I've spoken to the folks who support NetSpend's checking services as well as NetSpend reps. Just get perpetually bounced around until the inevitable “oops” dropped call. I guess it's too much to ask that NetSpend employ folks who know how to solve their app issues. This is why folks eventually go back to brick&mortar banks.

Never using Netspend again
I got a Netspend card for my 18th birthday yesterday. I have called several times, went through the automated call system at least 10 times just to be told that they cannot verify me as the card holder and then transfer me back to the automated line, they would not give me a chance to talk at all and would not help me at all. We asked for an account manager and the lady on the phone said she would let us speak to a manager, we got left on hold for half an hour and we ended up giving up because we figured no one was going to answer the phone. Now I have $100 on a card that I got for my birthday I cannot use or access. I recommend never using Netspend, it is a literal scam and you will not get your money.

Worst customer service experience and use of card ever. I sat on hold trying to activate a card for 35 minutes. Then customer service finally answered then put me back in hold for another 30 minutes before they just hung up on us. I have a card full of money but cannot even use the card bc I have been trying to activate it even online it tells me "something went wrong". This is the worst bank/debit card system ever! I feel they are trying to scam us out of our money

Theft, no other way to say it. All we want is to activate a $50 card. But we sat on the phone for two hours being put on hold three times by the associate. Only to be put back into the same hold loop. This has to be by design. Why are these systems not automated? Why does an "associate" have to type in your info for a prepaid card sold via checkout line at a retailer. This is fraud. Use a real bank. I can't imagine the horror of trying to manage your life savings with these people. No. No.No

NetSpend is no good they take hour money and they put you on hold and leave you there they want let you talk to the head over them they. Just hang up on you but they don't mind taking your money and not giving it back to you I have put up with this for almost two years so now I I going to take my money out and go somewhere else that treat you with respect and like a human

SCAM!
I bought a netspend card at my local DG to try and pay my phone bill. I put $40 on it at the register and tried to activate it at home. They told me to call a number so I had to borrow some else's phone and I was out on hold FOREVER and never answered. Waste of time. waste of money. Never ever again.

The $10 gift wasn't worth the hassle of setting it up. Getting two cards and then trying to activate both was a nightmare. I would have rather not had the money. Why can't you add cards together on the app? Because it's a bad company.
